Hannah Evans - Professional Church Musician

About Hannah
Hannah first began singing under the direction of Dearbhla Conlon Maloney in Mullingar over twelve years ago. Soon after that she joined the Cathedral Choir of Christ the King with whom she became one of the resident soloists and psalmists. These roles influenced her greatly  and inspired her to further her love of Liturgical Music. In 2000 she was awarded a scholarship into the Schola Cantorum in St. Finian's college, Mullingar where she studied musicianship and clarinet for two years under Mr. Shane Brennan and Ms. Mary Daly-Mulligan  respectively.

In 2002 she began vocal studies under Mr. Philip O'Reilly in the Royal Irish Aacademy of Music, Dublin. Her academic studies took her to NUI Maynooth where she obtained her Ba. Th in Music (performance) and Theology. In Maynooth she became a member of the prestigious Maynooth Chamber Choir for two years with whom she sang as soloist with on numerous occasions, including Vivaldi's Gloria and Kodaly's Missa Brevis mass.

In 2006 she obtained a Graduate diploma in Music Education  from the university of Limerick.
2008 saw her complete a two year masters in Theology, specifically focusing upon Sacred Music and Gregorian Chant Performance. Her thesis, entitled The role of the cantor in the Irish Church helped her gain great insight into congregational singinging and the art of singing for liturgies and ceremonies. For three years she has now sung with the Schola Gregoriana, an all-female chant group. Their album Saints and Scholars: Music from the feasts of St. Patrick and the Nativity of St. John the Baptist released in 2008, which Hannah sang a number of Solo pieces was recieved to great critical acclaim.

Hannah's experience is vast and has seen her perform in Rome (Cathedral of St. John Latern),  U.S.A and Paris (Notre Dame Cathedral). She has sung before many dignitaries and also directed the music(choir) for the opening service of the Bishop's annual conference in Croke Park. In the past year alone she has sang for radio masses on RTE radio 1 and LM. FM. She currently advises choirs and  music ministries within a number of parishes and sings with Fuam Laoi a semi-professional choir based in Dublin and reflective of the Irish, spiritual song tradition.
